ANDREW FOSS
VICE PRESIDENT & DIRECTOR OF ATHLETE SERVICE
Breaking down the intricacies of wealth management to a young professional athlete is not an easy feat, but Andrew Foss doesn’t mind. As Director of Athlete Services, he simultaneously plays the role of advisor, teacher and big brother.
His youngest clients often come to CORE with little to no understanding of financial planning, so he is always looking for new ways to explain complex concepts like investing.
“Trying to teach them how to make smart financial decisions when they’re 18 and have a lot of money is very difficult,” he admits. “We’re trying to give them some kind of foundation and just make forward progress. Usually, they’ll get it, but some take longer than others and a lot more effort.”
Since every client has a unique background and family dynamic, wealth management for young athletes can involve a lot of time and experience. Foss works closely with his father, Chuck, and the other team members to meet the ever-evolving needs of the professional athlete.
In order to establish trust, Foss tells it like it is. Never one to sugar coat, he prides himself on honesty and integrity in an industry riddled with “yes men.”
“If you ask me a question, I’m going to give you an honest answer—even if it’s not what you wanted to hear.”
The joy of helping clients navigate through the maze of financial planning and the opportunity to work alongside Chuck motivated him to co-found CORE and continues to motivate him to grow the company today. “We’ve gone through a lot to get where we’re at,” says Foss.
Outside the office, he is passionate about exercising, working on his golf game and traveling with family and friends.
